The Big 3-0… For most, it’s the last birthday worth celebrating until the next decade.
It’s on the cuff of saying goodbye to your crazy young antics and stepping into a more mature “got your head on” adult life.. so why not go out with a bang!
As most of you who’ve met me already know, my rubbery arm doesn’t require much in the way of twisting, so when the Big Bird suggested Canggu for a 30th hit out, I was in before you could say “Nasi Goreng”!
Myself and another photographer friend (you can check out his work here: @withoneeyeshut) decided to head over a week before the party, not just so that we could get a pre glaze on, but so that we could get off the beaten track and explore Nusa Penida. The highlight was scootering up to Kelingking beach and then making the tumultuous descent to the beach. Let’s just say all the cuts, scrapes and scars were totally worth it, but I’ll have more on that in the Nusa Penida blog.
After all this, it was back on a fairy to our Canggu Villa! The rest of the crew had arrived and the Bintang’s were flowing. I’ve been going to Bali pretty much once a year for the last decade and I still find it crazy how fast that place keeps expanding… First, the place to go was Kuta, then after one too many nights at the “Sky garden” and ending up in bird cages at “Bounty”.. we were all too eager to push on to Seminyak. Although the prime days of “potato head” seem behind up, Mrs Sippys is yet to disappoint!
The tunes were awesome and there is absolutely no judgement when holding a strawberry daiquiri at a beach club. We got in early, only to find out the birthday boy had arranged a VIP booth which set the pace for a day to remember.
